《都市保存碩士》(MA / MSc Urban Conservation)
關於歷史，從未只有一種說法，其內容層次多元複雜，呈現的方式也不只有一種面貌。日常生活的街道紋理也是一種歷史，而都市保存不只是有保存房子建物，更進一步地是保存該年代的意義；再者，透過具整體向度規劃的都市保存，每個城市得以展現其獨一無二的特色。
十九世紀末開始，英國便展開其文化資產保存規劃與管理，並且延伸至都市計劃體系。萊斯特大學(University of Leicester)結合其知名都市歷史研究中心、博物館研究學院、地理系和化學系，共同開設《都市保存碩士》(MA / MSc Urban Conservation)。由都市歷史脈絡研究到建築、保存實作、文化和科學資產等領域，以理論與實務並重協助學生，從人文或科學觀點，進而運用在未來都市規劃或觀光發展等方向設計。

Course Overview
The MA/ MSc Urban Conservation brings together the complementary expertise of the Centre for Urban History, School of Museum Studies, Department of Geology and Department of Chemistry. The degree aims to provide you with specialist knowledge in the field of urban conservation and the skills for professional practice within it. It combines the historical study of cities with an understanding of architecture, conservation practice, material culture and material science, providing a grounding in an area of growing significance for planning, tourism and urban policy.
The course contains input from professional practitioners and employers and you will engage in both practical field work and classroom-based study. You can choose to undertake the MSc Urban Conservation, which provides a more science-based route, or the MA version which is more arts-based.
Course Structure
You will study four taught modules, plus you will undertake a 20,000 word dissertation on a topic of your choice under the direction of a supervisor. If you are taking the MSc route, you will need to complete a dissertation in either Chemistry or Geology.

Part-time students
The requirements of the course are spread out over two years,with students taking one option module each semester over the years. As with full-time students, you will also complete a 20,000 word dissertation.
